The second kidney & heart transplantation was performed successfully in mid –April this year with the collaboration of the Kidney Transplantation Team of Taleghani Educational Hospital and the Heart Transplantation Team of Masih Daneshvari Educational Hospital, both affiliated to SBMU
The second kidney & heart transplantation was performed successfully in mid –April this year with the collaboration of the Kidney Transplantation Team of Taleghani Educational Hospital and the Heart Transplantation Team of Masih Daneshvari Educational Hospital, both affiliated to SBMU. The patient under transplantation had been undergoing dialysis three times a week for renal failure during the past year, and had become bed-ridden due to severe heart failure. Following the transplantation, the patient has started a normal routine daily life with a stable situation.
The director of the Cardio-Vascular Surgery Unit of SBMU Masih Daneshvari Educational Hospital, Professor Zarghami noted that the donor , a 24- year old female, had been brain-dead due to an accident, and her family had agreed to donate her body parts to the patients in need.
